Summer skill-enrichment Camps are known for providing a safe environment, where children gain self-confidence while learning or improving skills. But the right kind of summer enrichment program can play another significant role in a student’s academic and personal success.
Camp ReGeneration is a four-week, integrated Arts and Science camp for children ages 5-11 in the Metropolitan DC area. Campers will have an opportunity to develop their interests in the arts, sciences, and history of the African Diaspora. This includes free-standing lessons, designed to enhance a child’s ability to transform thoughts into creation. Our program also includes informal lessons in autonomy development, rooted in traditional Afrakan Principles. Each week includes one field trip or event, to support the theme.
The goals of Camp ReGeneration is to increase the level of self-esteem and cultural-awareness of Black children ages 5-11, while stimulating their interests in the arts and sciences.
The educational experiences at Camp ReGeneration are expected to stimulate a curiosity for learning and further exploration. We provide a safe, stimulating African-Centered learning environment and focus on autonomy development. Through this program, we will develop new approaches to psychology that are consistent with Afrakan people.
